Axe Skip Hire was started in 1985 by John Bostock and his wife Jane. They started with just one lorry and 20 skips and over the years John and Jane built up the family business and were joined by their son James in 1997. Today the successful business located in Kilmington, employs 7 staff with 4 Lorries and operates as a Waste Transfer Station.
Sadly in 2009 John, who was well known locally, lost his 2 year battle against cancer. The business was then passed on to John’s son James, who runs the business with the help of his wife Karen, under the watchful eye of Jane who still regularly helps at the yard.
In the last few months of his life John and the family received tremendous support from the Hospiscare team and this has inspired the family to raise awareness and much needed funds for the Charity. The family have been fundraising for Hospiscare since 2009 under the banner of “4 one night only” where over £15,000 has been raised for the Axminster Friends of Hospiscare.
Hospiscare has remained Axe Skip Hire’s nominated charity and to follow the progress of forthcoming events keep an eye on the website at "4 One Night Only"
John took great pride in both his work and staff and would be proud to see how the current team of Pepe, Martin, Neil, Colin, Wallace, Chris and Ben have helped and supported James, Jane and Karen Bostock run this family business.
